Today marks the feast day of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More in the liturgical calendar of the Church. It is also a designated day of prayer for those who suffer persecution. This comes at the end of a week which has sought to highlight the plight of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the UK with 'Refugee Week'.
If you are curious to learn more about the life and thought of St. Thomas More there is an excellent series of books by the scholar John Guy, one of which is listed below. In it he whisks us through More's life, death, and key relationship with his daughter, Margaret, then explores his legacy and representation in modern literature.
