Elizabeth Catez, born in France in 1880, joined the Carmelite Order in her hometown of Dijon in 1901. From an early age she had sought to explore the depths of God's love within her and to follow the model of Christ in her daily life. 'If we identify ourselves with all the movements of the soul of the Crucified, quite simply we no longer need to feel our weakness. He will be our strength,' she writes.
She died on 9th November 1906 from 'Addisons Disease'. Her canonization was approved by Pope Francis on 3 March 2016.
In this video clip, Discalced Carmelites from the US Province, Fr. Michael-Joseph and Br. Joseph, discuss St. Elizabeth's spiritual insights around 'the Divine Indwelling'.
